This Fragile Peace

The Schiavo case. So far I've avoided it, and avoided putting forward an opinion.

It isn't my place to judge, or get involved however tangentially. But Rev. Patrick Mahoney terrifies me now. "We will not accept for them to just throw up their hands. I expect congress to enforce its will. Are they going to just say, 'A circuit judge said no.'?"
I am not going take a stand on the case itself. I want to make it clear that what I'm about to say has absolutely nothing to do with the Schiavo case.
Rev. Mahoney would like to go around the law. Around the courts. Around everything that makes this a liveable country. Jurisprudence, the separation of congressional and judicial powers. It may seem reasonable, it may seem justified. But take a moment to sit back and think about what he is calling for. It truly and honestly terrifies me, because there is strong popular support for this. There is suddenly a vast and powerful radical faction that wants to be the law, wants to own the courts. We stand on a dark brink, and I am afraid.
